    Day 16-19 -Same as above

Places I am applying to permit for:

Is this enough or which more places do I need to add?

If I get the permits is it doable with 30 litres of petrol??(Since there is no petrol bunk in the middle after that. My bike can do 30 kmpl and has 10 litre carrying capacity. I intend to carry 20 litres with me in jerry can. Is that enough or should I get some more)?

Do I have enough time apart from travel to see places in the middle at all the places?

    • Marsimik La is off limits. You will have to take that off.
    • Koyul, Demchok, Charchagan La is all off limits
    • In your second travel plan, you don't have to come back to Leh from Spangmik. Can go straight ahead to Hanle.
    • Places you are mentioning on permits are fine but just remove the ones I mentioned above. Umling La and Photo La as well.
    • You will get petrol in black at every dhaba en route so no need to worry about that.

Thanks for the reply Vargis ji.
Is it possible with permission from DC of Leh

I really badly want to conquer these two passes more than anything else.
Is there any other permission I need or I can get?
If I go from Spangmik to Hanle directly what are the places I need to get ILP for?

Marismik La and Umling La is completely out of question. You won't be able to cover it this year.

Spangmik, Man, Merak, Chusul, Tsaga, Loma, Hanle

    This is the route ...

    Thanks bhai,
As I am travelling alone on bike and this is my first trip, any advice from your side? I have already read the ones given in your forum.

Also I am taking bike from Tamil Nadu.
Do I need an NOC from RTO even if its less than a month

As long as the bikes are registered in your name, then you don't need any other document except for your RC, Insurance and DL etc. You are good to go.

    Hello again bhai
My plan got postponed by a week and there is another small change. I have to start and end my trip at manali. I am renting a bike this time too. Since this trip is almost 20 days, is it fine if I start on 17th of September. Can I still visit all the places before the onset of winter and closing of all the roads. Also what would be the suggested itinerary to cover all the same as above. Can I get ilp without going to Leh as I don't want to waste a day by reaching Leh from manali and then going once more from the start again. What would be your suggestions?

Better to make that call while you are in Leh. Ask around about how the road ahead is and if you are told that it is safe and open then you can proceed to come back via Manali, otherwise go to Srinagar. Historically though, you should be able to come back to Manali as long as you plan to do it before 10th - 15th Oct.

And no, for ILP you will first have to reach Leh.

    Hi again bhai,

Since I didn't want t0 take any risk, I have removed the Zanskar routine out fully. My current itinerary

Day 1 – Fly from Chennai Delhi (Flight) and Manali
    Day 2- Manali to Leh
Day 3- Leh Permits and Local Sight Seeing
    Day 4- Leh-Dras-Leh
    Day 5-Reserve
    Day 6 – Leh – Khardung La – Nubra Valley – Hunder
    Day 7 – Hunder – Turtuk – Deskit
    Day 8 – Deskit – Wari La – Chang La – Tangtse-Spangmik
    Day 9 – Spangmik – Man – Merak – Chusul – Tsaga La – Loma – Hanle
    Day 10 – Hanle –Nyoma-Sumdo– Tsomoriri
    Day 11 - Reserve
    Day 12-Karzok-Jispa
    Day 13-Jispa-Manali
    Day 14-Manali to Delhi
Day 15-Manali -New Delhi and New Delhi to Chennai (Flight)

Is this OK?. Also I am thinking of leaving on 13th of September. So I would be at Leh only on Saturday. Will I get the permits without any issues on Saturday?

Places I am applying for ILP:
Nubra Valley, Turtuk, Wari La, Spangmik, Man, Merak, Chusul, Tsaga, Loma, Dungti, Hanle, Chumur, Kyun Tso, Lam Tso, Nyoma, Chumathang and Sumdo, Ipadok, Kiari ,Mahe,Tangste

Do I also apply for the passes as well. (Since Wari La is mentioned, do I also have to put in Khardung la)
Also Do I have to put all the places in between in maps. Eg: In between Leh and Hanle do I have to write Upshi and Thiksey also? If yes what are the extra places left.

I am taking a Bullet 350 for solo ride. will that handle the mountains well?
Thanks a lot for your help bhai

    Hi Karthik Bhai,

    1. Will Bullet handle the roads - Yes
    2. Permits - Names you mentioned are sufficient enough for the permits
    3. Itinerary - Did you mean that you plan on riding from Manali to Leh in a single day?
