    Hello,

It seems that many people are going/planning for Leh in june season. I am too. But now seeing the reports for the jams and traffic snarls on highways(manali- Rohtang) I am little bit disappointed.

Me and my wife were planning a trip to leh for 1 June -15 june but as the roads are not open now. Can you suggest any months further down the lane when it will not be overcrowded.

Also we are going by swift.

Initially we planned for 1 June as we thought we could get ahead of most of the peak season travellers. Now I am thinking of 15 June to 30 June.

Would it be to much rush in Leh and other places a around this time?

June, July, August and September is all crowded now. If you want a lesser number of people, then plan towards late September or early October.

Will the Srinagar route be as overcrowded as Manali side?

Else we can go from Srinagar and exit from Manali.

Basically we want to just go and book accommodation and hotels on the fly without any advance bookings. As we are not surely decided on the itinerary yet. So will be able to get free rooms this season?

It is not the route that is crowded but Ladakh. Accommodation will not be a problem, you will get it easily without any bookings no matter when you go.

    Hello vargis,

So I have decided to make the trip starting from 16 june - 30 the june.

We have planned to go from Srinagar side and exit via Manali side.

So if I can recall we need 3 days from Jammu to Leh and 3 days from Leh to Manali. Which leaves us with around 5 days to explore Leh Ladakh places like nubra and the lakes.

So is 4-5 days enough for the following places:
    1) Leh to turtuk and stay night stay at turtuk.
    2) Turtuk to panamic and then back to leh.
    3) Leh to pangong and night stay at pangong.
    4) pangong to tso moriri (should we go back to Leh or just head to tso moriri from pangong)
    5) start our journey back from tso moriri or Leh with enough fuel to reach Tandi.

We want to cover as many points as possible that can be accessed by a small hatchback (swift)

Afaik, there are 2 routes from drass to reach Leh. Which one should I take??

No need to come back from Panamik to Leh Amarjit. Carry some spare fuel from Diskit and continue straigt to Pangong via Shyok road. From Pangong, buy some fuel in Black and then head straight to Tso Moriri. From there, drive to Sarchu and Sarchu to Manali the next day.

Take the route via Lamayuru from Drass to reach Leach.
