    Hi vargis,
Went through your post and you seemed to be kind enough helping travelers with details. Much appreciated.
I have 2 days for chandratal and we are 2 people. Travelling from manali to chandertal by bus would be good or renting a bike from manali to chandratal is better? Travelling on 29th sept

Hi Harsh - You are welcome brother. It entirely depends on your personal choice. Motorcycle will definitely be convenient but then you will need to ensure 1. both of you are skilled with handling the bikes on really bad roads 2 That the motorcycle you rent is in good condition and you are not running a risk of breakdown in middle of nowhere.

Catching a bus will have you avoid both the above options but then you will need to look for a mode of commute after you get down at Chandratal diversion at Kunzum Pass top. Considering the end of the tourist season, there won't be many travelers that you can hitchhike with and may have to walk the last 14 kilometers. Next day, you will have to walk back again and be at the same spot to catch the bus next day.

    Hi Vargis,

    Thank you for your response.
How much time will it take to reach chandratal on bike? Bike rent? And any kind of permit we need to take?
I would prefer going on bike.
Also, read your post that Jamaica provides tent for lodging at chandratal. What is the approximate rate?

    Thanks and Regards

Hi Harsh - From Manali to Chandratal will easily by about 6-7 hours at least. Rent depends on the motorcycle but expect it to be around Rs. 1000 - Rs. 1200 per day. Yes, you will need to obtain Rohtang Pass permits if you are taking a bike. Jamaica has different camps at different prices but expect it to be around Rs. 1500 per person including meals. Give my reference and he will offer you a discounted price.
