We 7 people a group of Public transportation lovers planned from Cochin to Leh by 8 th June. Our plan was to take HRTC from Delhi by 10 th and reach Leh by 12 th. We fixed dates forseeing the previous years dates of opening of the highway. But this year everything got delayed due to Snowfall heavy. Thus we cancelled all now, only 3 are coming and now replanned the route starting from Cochin on 22 nd June boarding train to Delhi and reaching 24 th Monday morning 5 am . Further catching the Leh bus from ISBT same day 230 pm and reaching Manali 25th Tuesday and continuing to Keylong. 26 th Wednesday Keylong to Leh reaching Leh by evening of 26 th and stay there. 27 th Thursday morning Leh to Pangong by shared taxi, evening return to Leh . 28 th Friday just to go Khardung la again by shared cabs early morning and return to hotel by 12 noon. Same day Friday afternoon 230 pm bus I need to take to go to Srinagar via Kargil. . Reach Srinagar early morning of 29 th Saturday check in to a hotel, going to Dal lake and afternoon or by evening need to travel to Katra Vaishno Devi temple.30 th Sunday morning have plan to Darshan at Katra and return to Delhi by train. 1 St June Delhi to Cochin by Flight
I have the following doubts in my planning.
1 Whether I can get tickets easily from Delhi to Leh in HRTC on same day itself.
    2. Whether I would be getting shared taxis frequently from Leh to Pangong and return or any buses available in the route
    3. Whether Leh to Khardung la and return also frequently shared cabs/buses available. If I start from Leh 7 am just going to Khardung la spend and1 hr return back and return to Leh by 12 noon is it possible?
    4. Leh to Srinagar 230 pm bus whether it's a safer mode to travel overnight?
    5. Srinagar to Katra how will I be able to go by bus? Should I go Jammu or any other direct bus is there?
I know that this planning is quite congested with dates since there is no rest. Still we are used to it. So that might not be an issue
Every data of the plan I have fetched fr your website and forums and combined to a new itinerary. Thanks again for having such informative blog

    1. Yes, provided that the Bus service has started by 24th
    2. Yes
    3. You should be able to but may have to wait a little at Khardung top for return journey
    4. Yes
    5. No idea about this, sorry

Your itinerary is a little rushed and tight on timings. If possible, add a couple of days more to it. You will also have to stay a day in Leh after you reach there to arrange for permits.

Thanks bhai. Leave is a problem for more days. I shall apply permit online for Pangong and get it stamped there at counter in the open time itself.
One more thing as the Rohtang will be closed on Tuesdays for maintenance, still the bus will cross Rohtang? ( Assuming that the service started)

If I go from Leh to Pangong by Bus on Saturday and come back by Sunday, the same bus will I be able to get accomodation at Pangong? and what is the running time by bus from Pangong to Leh. I think it would start from Pangong by 7 am.

For stamping of Leh to Pangong permits whether we can authorise any hotel agent or physical presence of traveller is a must. That means if I am reaching Leh by Saturday evening and Sunday morning 7 am by bus leaving to Pangong, whether the hotelier whom I have booked stay shall go for stamping on Saturday itself?
