Hi , we are a couple planning to visit leh for 7 nights 8 days in july. Hiring an innova. We are thinking between 2 itineraries. One with turtuk and one without. plz suggest which one will be btr or if we need to modify anything.
    Day 1- Leh
    Day 2- sham valley excursion
    Day 3- Nubra
    Day 4- Nubra turtuk nubra
    Day 5- pangong tso
    Day 6- tso morori
    Day 7- leh
    Day 8- fly back

    2nd option
    Day 1- leh
    Day 2- sham valley
    Day 3- leh- nubra
    Day 4- nubra- pangong tso
    Day 5- pangong tso-leh

Hello - Definitely go with the first itinerary. That plan will be much better.

I was hoping you will say that! But i had spoken to a leh agent who said if i include turtuk as well it will become very hectic with a lot of time spent in the car. So he suggested to drop turtuk and keep tso moriri.

    Travel like this

    Day 1- Leh
    Day 2- sham valley excursion
    Day 3- Leh to Diskit
Day 4- Diskit to Turtuk to Panamik
Day 5- Panamik to Pangong via Shyok
Day 6- Pangong to Tso morori
Day 7- Tso Moriri to Leh via Tso Kar
    Day 8- fly back

Day 4 and Day 6 will be a bit of a long journey but then think like this. You are going there to explore and see as much as you can. You aren't visiting Ladakh to relax in a hotel, are you? Who know when will you be there the next so see as much as you can.

    Dear RESPONSIBLE COUPLE TRAVELLERS,
best wishes for a safe and happy journey. Plan 1 : D6 is too tough to cover in 1 day as per another article by vargis bhai. " How early you start at pangong tso, you will end up very late at Tso moriri with No people to guide you on proper route, and this has happened to me --- wrote Vargis Bhai. Bone rattling bad roads, flat tyres at no mans land etc play spoilsport. so better do pangong tso - leh and then leh -- tso moriri. ( option 2 suits the bill )

I saw one news item on the PATHETIC STATE OF PANGONG TSO LAKE, LEH CITY, CHOGLAMSAR AREAS filled with Garbage, Plastics etc all because of IRRESPONSIBLE TOURISTS considering them to EMULATE their FILMI hero heroines ( tourism -- money inflow boosts ladakh people life style at the expense of ladakh losing its natural sheen and raw beauty ). earlier, this has happened to lot of places like Ooty, Mahabaleshwar, Darjeeling, Shimla--Manali etc., and now the current target is LADAKH because of its exponential tourism growth in recent years because of movies shot there and hence thronged by filmi fans who does not know anything about raw natural beauty and ecology. they are silently killing a golden egg laying duck in a hurried manner for quicker benefits. ladakh once an adventure place now become a tourist spot and hence the FALL of its sheen and magical beauty esply during peak season. Decade old seasoned regular travellers can imagine / gauge and feel the difference in a period of 5 to 6 years itself. # Pathetic state of affairs. Thats why i had said " be a responsible couple travellers " and you can see my all earlier postings / guidance to other members also with my usual ending as follows :
" litter free ladakh, conserve water, preserve nature and employment to local village homestay people and ladakhi drivers". it is a common message i use to finish my guidance to other TRAVELLERS. hope you can understand the difference between show-off picnic polluting tourists, irresponsible idiots and fellow responsible travellers. the message is a caution intended for you but NOT BLAMING YOU. hope you got my message clearly. Vargis bhai pl note and post these kind of cautionary messages to create awareness to SAVE LADAKH. Thanks Su83 (new member) to give the space to convey this important message to ALL.

Lovingly Ladakh ( on a sad note )
    Meenakshi

Now that's back to square 1 !! Your views Vargis?
Meenakshi, thankfully even my 3 year old knows he needs to keep the trash with him until he finds a trash bin :)

    Dear Su83,
yeah thats the right spirit to nurture the next gen to save planet earth for future generations. my message mainly intend for those idiotic morons---->> # yellow scooter photo shooting business, 3 idiots chair clickers etc are minting money at pangong tso. I hate those atrocities. i do not know why such filmi craziness instead of appreciating mother nature REAL RAW BEAUTY. Cheap taste fellows. thanks for taking it in the right spirit.
reg back to sq2 1 : i had just reproduced what vargis bhai wrote in that article. ( pangong tso to moriri -- 1 day trip ). may be it was few years back and things would have changed by this time. i had seen the other conversations between you and vargis bhai earlier in this thread. so i too acknowledge the same. Day 4 and Day 6 is too hectic but can be manageable. hope you had noticed vargis bhai had included PANAMIK in your trip (not in your original plans) with that smart idea of hectic D4 D6 ( reminding my chess moves ) and though ladakh is a magical puller every year, you do not know when you are going back again so follow the itinerary given by the expert vargis bhai. i am also guiding others with my route-plan-itineraries is ALL BECAUSE i had read and gained some knowledge from the WELL WRITTEN ARTICLES BY VARGIS BHAI only. since you have 3 year old baby, i recommend you to read the article by him on travel with kids to ladakh. after that, you decide whether you want a little bit relaxed trip because of kid or hectic trip because you are unaware about your return to ladakh. choice is yours.
From : Back to Square 1 To: ball is in your court my fellow responsible traveller. best wishes for a happy and safe ENJOYABLE LADAKH
    Cheers
    Meenakshi.

    Thanks Meenakshi.

Su83 - Bhai I did not realize you had a 3 year old traveling with you. In that case yes, it may become a bit of a long journey from Pangong to Moriri in a single day with a child. Travel like this, drop Turtuk and add Hanle.

    Day 1- Leh
    Day 2- sham valley excursion
    Day 3- Leh to Diskit
Day 4- Diskit to Pangong via Shyok
    Day 5- Pangong to Hanle
    Day 6-Hanle to Tso Moriri
Day 7- Tso Moriri to Leh via Tso Kar
    Day 8- fly back
