Hello Mr. Mallick - No permit required at all for the itinerary I suggested above.
Hi Vargis Bro,
Happy to inform you that as per our itinerary, we have completed the total Spiti - Lahaul circuit and returned last week. The trip was really amazing as untouched nature has bloomed everywhere to surprised us in every turn. It was really a memorable one. Out trip circuit started from Shimla - Sarahan - Sangla - Chitkul - Kalpa - Nako - Tabo - Kaza (with Langza, Komic, Hikkim etc.) - Key - Lossar - Kunzum - Chandra taal - Batal - Gramphu - Jispa - Baralachala - Keylong - Manali. Road condition was good except from Batal to Gramphu (very pathetic). Once again thanks for your suggestion and help. Weather was clear except 2 days in Kaza (Cloudy).
Just to inform you that we had a booking in Jamaica camp at Chandra taal as suggested by you. But really sorry to say you that after your reference, Mr. Jamaica had ruined our stay in Chandra taal. Very unorganized and unprofessional behavior. We reached Chandra taal at around 3 pm. Camp was not ready that time. At around 7 pm Mr. Jamaica had arranged some other camp (some Cabila camp) which was far distance from other camp (no other camps were there, we were alone). Very low quality tent (air, water leaking), no lights in camp (solar light was on only for one hour 8 to 9 pm, after that total darkness for whole night), water not available in wash room after sometime, all blankets were wet etc. We were just praying that night for the early morning. We don't have any communication facility there to tell about the problem. Next day morning no one even asked how was our stay.
Any way we are not remembering the negative thing anymore as the over charming moon lake had showered our soul. However we thought to inform you about Jamaica camp as you are referring all.
Will send you some photos and captions shortly.
Thanks & Regards,
Hi Joydeb Bhai - I am very glad that your trip went well and you enjoyed it. Really sorry for what happened at Chandratal and I apologize for directing you to Jamaica. I have heard a few negative feedback on him this year. You are the third person this season actually who said that Jamaica ruined things for them. And I am thinking maybe I should stop giving his reference. Sorry about the bad experience.
On another side though, I can't wait to see some pictures with a little detail on your trip. How about a trip log with some feedback on the hotels that you stayed at? That could be of help to other people.
Sure Vargis Bhai, I will upload the trip log with photos very shortly.
Waiting Joydeb Bhai
I had a question to ask . Is it possible to hire a private cab( Innova or something) for the entire Lahual Spiti trip. Also would it it be possible for you to send details of a few
Another question, Do you have contact details of people who can arrange camp Stay at Chandratal
Hoping to hear from You
Hi Mayank - Yes it is definitely possible to hire a cab for the entire trip but I am sorry I do not have any contact at such.
Regarding camping at Chandratal, there are several of the camp sites there. I did have a contact there but offl-ate I haven't received good feedback about him. Everyone came back with a negative comment so I do not really want to direct you to him. My advice would be to reach Chandratal, take a look around at a few camp sites and check into the one that you like the most.
Hi Vargis, thanks for your prompt reply. Was just wondering would it be wiseto directly reach Chandrataal without booking?. Also as far as i know there are no permits required along the route. I Plan to enter via Shimla and Exit via manali So wont be needing any permits. However i heard there is something called the Green tax that we need pay . is this Correct???
Hi Mayank - Yes you can reach Chandratal without any prior bookings and you will be fine. Green tax yes is a mandate to be paid while entering Shimla but you can actually pay that online. See this post please.
Thanka Vargis. I will go thru the link , Also i had another question regarding Washrooms enroute. Are there any along the road ??. This becomes an issue especially for women
