We are five persons (4 are aged around 55) and we want to travel Lahul-Spiti circuit starting from Chandigarh on 2nd October morning. Is it possible to travel in this time via Narkanda-Kaza-Kunzum Pass and Rohtang Pass (to Manali)? We will follow your itinerary given at your blog. We hire a cab from Chandigarh. Are the drivers of Chandigarh know well about the home-stays or budget hotels in the route? Please respond to my request.

Yes to both your questions. You can travel on the circuit in early October and yes, drivers are familiar with the route.

    Dear Vargis,
    How are you?
We are three families (8 persons) to travel along Spiti-Lahul circuit between 2nd October and 12th October (Chandigarh-Narkanda-Chitkul-Kalpa-Tabo-Kaza-Manali) of which 6 persons are aged and above 55. I have more questions to you.
We cannot stay at Chandratal Lake on 9th October (the scheduled day of our journey to Chandratal) because some of our friends cannot stay at this altitude and under severe coldness due to their ages (56 to 60) and for other problems.
    My questions are:
    1. Is it possible to go through Kaza-Chandratal-Manali in one day?
2 If not possible, is there any hotels or home-stays in Batal or Gramphu or any other places between Chandratal and Manali?
Please suggest any alternatives so that we can visit Chandratal Lake, but not staying there at night.
    With Regards.
    Suvro

Hello Suvro - I am well, how are you?

    1. Yes but make sure you start really early from Kaza.
    2. No other accommodation in between, just tents and camp sites. There is a PWD guest house in Batal but booking it is a Mahabharat in itself.

Cover Chandratal and be on your way to Manali, that is the best plan.
