    Hi,

We are a couple with a 12 year old Boy planning for Leh in May 2019. Please suggest a suitable itinerary for 10 days. Planning to come to Leh via Srinagar & fly out of leh. For example :
16 May - Reach srinagar early morning and start for Kargil
26 May - Fly out of Leh

    Please give suggestions.
    Thanks,
    Ranjana

Ranjana, you could opt for the below itinerary. This covers most of the places the first timer would want. However to keep it less hectic you could opt out of Hanle or Tso Moriri or both of them as per your convenience.

    DAY 1 - 16 May – Srinagar Local Sightseeing

    Day 2 - 17 May - Srinagar – Kargil or Lamayaru

Day 3- 18 May – Kargil or Lamayaru - Leh

Day 4- 19 May - Leh Local with Permits for Inner Line

    Day 5 - 20 May - Leh – Khardungla - Hunder or Diskit

Day 6 - 21 May - Hunder - Pangong (Via Agham - Shyok) Stay Preferably in Spangmik, Man or Merak

    Day 7 - 22 May - Pangong - Hanle via Chushul

    Day 8 - 23 May – Hanle - Tso Moriri

    Day 9 - 24 May – Tso Moriri - Leh

    Day 10 - 25 May – Buffer day

    Day 11 - 26 May – Fly Out

Hi Ranjana - The itinerary Jitender Bhai suggested is the best. Just keep in mind thought that you will be renting two taxis here. First or Srinagar to Leh and then Ladakh sightseeing. Your Srinagar taxi cannot be used in Ladakh.

Thanks for the reply Jitendar Sir. I would want to skip Hanle & Tso Moriri to make it less hectic. But would like to spend a night or two in Turtuk.
    Please let me know accordingly.
Mr. Vargis Khan, your blog is an ultimate guide to Leh - awesome work.

In that case you can add another day in Turtuk after Hunder or you can opt for a 2 nights in Turtuk. From there you can go to Pangong.

And in Pangong stay in Spangmik

    Hi,

We are 2 families (4 Adults and 3 kids 8-10 yrs)

Planned for Leh trip in May 2019

    12 May Amritsary
    13 May Jammu
14 May Jammu -Srinagar Flight - stay at Sonmarg
    14 May Sonmarg - Kargil
    15 May Kargil Leh
    16 May Leh
    .
    .
    .
    25 May Depart from LEH.

    2 questions:
1- I read somewhere, that Srinagar Leh highway usually opens during Mid May - Will it be worth taking chance?
2- Is it safe to travel in Leh during above period - Specially with Kids?

    Regards,

    JIGNESH

    Dear Jignesh,

This year the Srinagar Leh Highway was thrown open early April. So you never know. it depends on the amount of snowfall the higher passes get. But should be definitely be open by Mid May.

Yes it is completely safe to travel with kids, however need to take enough woolens as the nights will still be cold.

FYI........ you have an option to fly directly from Amritsar to Srinagar. That saves a day for you

    Dear Jitener,

    Thanks for your quick reply.

We going for KATRA - hence flying SXR from Jammu.

    We are booking our hotels.

Also, there's another couple willing to join us with their 4 yrs kid - is it advisable for them to join us too?

We are looking to cover following places

14 May - 25 May (early morning departure)

    Sonmarg
    Kargil
    Leh
    Nubra
    Turkut
    Pangong
    Tso Moriri

I read about Hanle - but few ppl suggested there's nothing great for kids at Hanle and also additional permission is required to visit Hanle.

    What you suggest/advice on above.

    Regards,

There is nothing for kids to do anywhere in Ladakh Jignesh. It is just sightseeing and in Hanle too it is the same thing. Your regular ILP will work for Hanle as well, don't need any special permit.
