    Hi,

I am planning a trip to ladakh in sep with my sister..most probably the dates wud be from 15 to 24/25 sep.. we wud prefer flying in and out to/from leh directly.. i need to cover the following places and need your help and inputs

Places to cover : leh local, nubra, turtuk, hanle, tso moriri, tso kar, chumthang,changthang..

PS : m ok missing out on pangong...

Since we are only two gals i also need help on the transport modes to these places...

I understand first two days shud be for acclimatization...so my travel wud actually start from 17 aug...

Also will it be possible to get the permits ont the first day of my arrival since i vl b arriving early morning by 7 am on Saturday and i assume sunday the permit offices wud be closed.. i do not wish to waste monday/3rd day at leh itself

To cover all those places, your mode of commute can either be only a private taxi or a rented motorcycle. By public transport it would be very difficult, specially the Hanle route.

Yes you can try getting the permits on Saturday in first half of the day.

You can get shared cabs but it will be restricted to major tourist routes like Nubra, Pangong and Tso Moriri. If you want to go to Hanle or travel on Chushul route, then it would be very difficult to get a shared cab

    Well Vargis

I have booked my tickets... Vl be flying directly to leh on 15 sep early morning and landing at leh by 7 am..

Considering i get the permits by sat first half, i have the below itinerary
    15 sep - get permits..rest..leh local
16 sep - rest and leh local..
    17 sep - diskit hunder..overnight diskit
    18 sep - turtuk..overnight turtuk..
19 sep - return to leh..
    20 sep - leh to pangong..overnight pangong .
21 sep - pangong to Hanle.. overnight hanle...
22 sep - hanle to tso moriri...
23 sep - tso moriri to leh..
    24 sep - spare day..
25 sep - return flight to mumbai..

If i follow the above itinerary, i have below questions:
a ) can i cover nubra turtuk using shared taxis? If yes then how much a private taxi wud charge approx to cover places from 20 to 24 sep?
    b) should i spend one more night at either hanle or tso moriri since i have a day spare on 24? Or should i utilise the spare day to cover some other place altogether?
    c) are permits available for hanle-chumur-tsomoriri route?
    d) is it possible to cover photi la pass ahead of hanle using the permits issued?
    e) if u cud help me how much travel time would be for the routes from 20 to 23 sep
    f) if m not wrong diskit and hunder are 8 to 10 km apart..if i use a shared taxi i can taje a drop either at diskit or hunder..if i opt to get off at diskit how does one explore hunder then?

    Hi Ritu,

    1. For private taxi charges, talk to Nasir in Leh @ 9906229203. He runs his taxi there and can give you an exact idea.
    2. Take a day trip to Sham Valley, that would be better.
    3. Yes
    4. No, that is off limits for tourists
    5. About 7 to 8 hours daily
    6. Yes. You can easily hitchhike between both places or get a shared cab.
