    Dear Vargis,

It was pleasure to go through your blog and thank you so much for your dedication.

This is unusual query for you as we, a bunch of friends & relatives numbering around 45 and 70% of them more than 50 years of age, are planning a trip to Kashmir & Ladakh.

After reading so much from you blog & elsewhere we have our itinerary as follows :

Day 1 - Jammu to Srinagar via Mughal Road (no Ramban - Anantnag road) covering Aharbal waterfalls
Day 2 - Srinagar sight seeing (Shankaracharya temple, Mughal gardens etc.)
Day 3 - Srinagar to Yusmarg, Doodhpathri & back
Day 4/5 - Srinagar to Pahalgam & back covering Betaab valley, Aru valley etc.
Day 6/7 - Srinagar to Kargil or Mulbekh & then to Leh covering Lamayuru, Magnetic Point etc.
Day 8/9 - Leh & nearby places like Hemis, Thiksey, Shey etc.
Day 10 - Leh to Diskit & Hunder via Khardung La
Day 11 - Diskit to Turtuk to Panamik
Day 12- Panamik to Pangong Tso via Shyok or Wari La (preferably Shyok)
Day 13- Pangong Tso to Hanle
Day 14 - Hanle to Tso Moriri
Day 15 - Tso Moriri to Tso Kar to Sarchu
Day 16 - Sarchu to Manali
Day 17 - Manali sight seeing & to Chandigh by 10 pm latest

From Jammu we will be starting on Sept 3 and reach Chandigarh on Sept 19.

    My queries are :
    1. Is the itinerary ok or need for improvement ? The idea is to absorb more scenic beauty.
    2. What is better on Day 3 - Gulmarg or Doodhpathri & Yusmarg ?
    3. 2 night stay in Nubra - Diskit / Panamik or Turtuk / Panamik
    4. Nubra to Pangong Tso - Shyok or Wari La route ?
5.Pangong Tso - Leh - Tso Moriri or Pangong Tso - Hanle - Tso Moriri ?
    6. Is there in sightseeing around Hanle to be covered on Day 14 ? Difficulty in getting permits for Hanle ?
    7. Is it worthwhile to book vehicles/stay after reaching Jammu / Leh or per-booking is preferred ?
    8. How is your opinion regarding Geographic Tours, Leh ?
    9. Are 26/35 seater buses allowed on this route ?10. All are almost vegans. So how can we prepare food ?
    11. General precautions & suggestions for this large group.

Thanking you in advance for bothering you so much.

    Hello Mr. Jani

    1. Your itinerary is great
    2. Start early from Srinagar, go to GUlmarg and cover Doodhpathri on your way back. Take Gulmarg - Doodhpatri road via Magam
    3. Looks good
    4. Shyok road
    5. Hale definitely
    6. Not much to see in Hanle. You can go to Photi La and come back
    7. Booking in advnace would be better
    8. Geographic Tours? I am not sure I understand what that is. Is that a travel agency?
    9. Yes they are allowed
    10. There are plenty of veg only restaurants that you can eat at
    11. Spend a day in Sonamarg if you can extend

Many thanks to you, Mr. Vargis.
Yes, Geographic Tours seems to be a travel agency in Leh. Got the reference from They are providing 26 seater bus at competitive prices with accommodation option. Contacted Faisal & Nasir as well but unable to provide bigger vehicle and probably because of that were not competitive.

Give your opinion of the arrangements being worked out.
