It all depends on your comfort Bhai. Well I did not required any warm clothes except the riding gear. And night I was pretty comfortable roaming on tshirts and shorts :) better carry one jerking for safe side:p

Hi, I am planning to start from Delhi on Saturday. Planning to take Mughal road from Jammu for Srinagar the next day, hope the conditions are fine.
Also, what's the traffic conditions like, from Srinagar to Kargil? Sonamarg check-post opens by 8:30 or 10 in the morning?

Road is good except the starting 1-2 kms of zozilla pass.

Better take pathankot nud sunal road instead of Jammu road which may save few kilometers

Thanks Surya Bhai. Do you mean NH44 via Nud, Qazigund uptill Srinagar instead of Mughal road?
Heard there are a lot of blackages and jams because of Amarnath Yatra during this time..

Also, I wanted to know if it's okay to do Manali Leh highway during this time? I see heavy rain prediction around Gramphoo and Keylong so slightly wary of it.

    Hi Vargis Sir

I am planning to travel Leh via below route & schedule. Please suggest if its viable & also suggest if the roads / weather remain good to go with. I will confirm only after your recommendation sir ji. It will be a Solo Trip on my Bike.

Since I am entering from Leh to Manali; is there any permit required at Rohtang Pass!! I have read your outstanding write-up on permits, but I want to be doubly sure Sir Ji.

    1 Delhi -Amritsar 04-Aug-19
    2 Amritsar -Patni Top 05-Aug-19
    3 Patni Top -Srinagar 06-Aug-19
    4 Srinagar -Kargil 07-Aug-19
    5 Kargil -Leh 08-Aug-19
    6 Leh -Leh 09-Aug-19
    7 Leh -Nubra 10-Aug-19
    8 Nubra -Pangong 11-Aug-19
    9 Pangong -Tsokar 12-Aug-19
    10 Tsokar -Jispa 13-Aug-19
    11 Jispa -Manali 14-Aug-19
    12 Manali -Delhi 15-Aug-19

Your plan looks good. One small change is you can directly travel Srinagar to Leh . Just visit the Kargil war memorial in drass.
Once you enter Leh apply for Leh inner lone permit which would cost you around 400, pay the fee online and take the receipt of payment and permit and get the same stamped in office.

And well if you're able to do Manali Delhi in one day you can easily do Amritsar Srinagar also in one day as roads are good.

With that extra 2 days u can spend a day in chandratal and then return via Manali. You don't need any permit to enter Manali from other side.

    Hope I'm clear.

Thanks a lot Surya Ji !!

I will follow your suggestions. Just a few queries:
1). Should I do online payment now for Leh inner line permit or should I get it done when I will be there in Leh.
2). Considering August month (4-15 August), will there be much issue due to rain.
3). Is it advisable to book hotels in advance for Leh area or is it ok to go there and book on the spot.

Thanks a lot for your knowledge sharing sir.
