    Hello Vargis!
3 guys travelling on RE Desert storm 500 with pillion and one travelling on RE Classic 350. Our route plan is Srinagar-Kargil-Leh-Turtuk-Pangong-Tso Moriri-Tso Kar-Pang-Tandi-Kishtawar-Anantnag-Srinagar.1) Is it possible to cover this journey in 8 days ? 2) We will be carrying our own tent. Is camping a good idea? 3) Should we rely on Diksit petrol pump or carry fuel(spare fuel) from Leh?
P.s: travelling dates are 12-19 August
And all the knowledge i gathered is from Vargiskhan.com . Amazing work and the maps are gem.

    Hi Maroof,

    1. 8 Days enough? No, You will need about 14-15 days for this.
    2. Yes you can camp on your own
    3. Carry spare from Leh

    Thankyou Vargis!
I have streched it to 9 days. As we are short on time it is almost impossible to add some more days.
    Day 1: Srinagar-Kargil
    Day 2: Kargil-Leh
    Day 3: Leh-Nubra(Turtuk)
Day 4:Turtuk-Pangong Tso via Agham Shayok and plan is to camp at Merak
Day 5: Merak to Tso Moriri(Karzok) via Chusul-Nyoma-Mahe
Day 6: Karzok to Pang via Tso kar
    Day 7: Pang to Tandi(Keylong)
    Day 8: Tandi- Kishtawar
    Day 9: Kishtawar- Srinagar
Can you suggest in which part of itinerary are we rushing?
We are from Srinagar so rather than getting back from same route i.e Leh-Srinagar, we want to cover some part of the Leh-Manali route so we choose Killar-Kishtawar

Hi Maroof - Sorry, I thought you meant 8 days from your home. How are you traveling? Renting bikes from Srinagar?

Your journey is a bit long on all days except for 1, 2, 6 and 7.

We live in Srinagar. We have our Re classic 350 and the other one desert storm 500 we are renting from Kashmirtravelogue (the owner is my friend) .
I somewhere saw a post of yours that you have plans to visit Kashmir. You are welcome and if you wish you can stay at my home. I will be glad.
And regarding my itinerary, are we good to go? Plz suggest any alternate itinerary or any editing to the above one that will be more convenient but the no of days have to be 9 at most.

Thank you so much for the kind gesture Maroof Bhai. I really appreciate it. You are friends with Faisal?

And yes, you are right, I will be in Kashmir for a few days later this month. Would love to meet you there if you have some time. I will be in Srinagar and exploring the nearby areas for 9-10 days.

    About your itinerary,

    Day 1: Srinagar-Kargil - Good
    Day 2: Kargil-Leh - Good

** You will need to get ILP before going to Nubra. Either have someone else arrange it for you or add a day's stay here in Leh City. Without permit, you cannot travel beyond Leh

Day 3: Leh-Nubra(Turtuk) - Start early. This can be a bit long.

Day 4: Turtuk - Pangong Tso via Agham Shayok and plan is to camp at Merak - Start early again. Will be a bit of a long day. Are you planning on self camping?

Day 5: Merak to Tso Moriri(Karzok) via Chusul-Nyoma-Mahe - Will be very long via Chushul. Road is bad too so journey will be slow. Start by first light of the day.

Day 6: Karzok to Pang via Tso kar - Start a bit early in the day and try to make it all the way to Sarchu rather than Pang. Last I traveled on this route, I started from Karzok at 10 AM and made it to Pang by 5 PM via Tso Kar. So start at around 7 or 8 and halt at Sarchu.

Day 7: Pang to Tandi(Keylong) - From Sarchu, start early again and try to make it to Udaipur on this day. Will be a bit long but doable.

Day 8: Tandi- Kishtawar - This will change to Udaipur to Kishtwar. Long journey again. You will cross Sach Pass and then the roads towards Kishtwar are terrible as well so progress will be slow.

Day 9: Kishtawar- Srinagar - And then finally home.

    Small world indeed!
I would love to meet you and you have to celebrate Bakr Eid with us.
Vargis bhai as we are the residents of J&K we do not need any permits so that part is bit relieving.
Yes we are taking camping gear with us and a couple of days on the trip we are staying in hotels to charge our electronic devices.
I have read almost everything on vargiskhan.com i.e the Ladakh part. The work done by you and detailing is top notch.
It is my second visit to Ladakh, last year it was a journey by car and without gathering any info prior about the trip. All we did was pangong and nubra(upto Hunder). It was a pretty comfortable trip. Nothing extraordinary about that trip.
But this year we signed for much more adventurous and demanding trip. I know it is going to be tough but it has to be done in a hard way to enjoy Ladakh to the utmost.

Yes I forgot that completely Maroof Bhai. J&K residents don't need the permit in Ladakh. Thanks for refreshing my memory :)

Insha-allah we will meet and celebrate Bakra-Eid together. I will be there in Srinagar on 19th when you return from Ladakh.
