    Hi Vargis,

Am planning a bike trip from Manli to Leh from 9th of June. Please can you guide me on cheapest night stays at JISPA and SARCHU. As we are just two guys so we can manage to stay in normal and not so hi-fi places.

And also give me an idea on how much would be the rent of a normal budget tent at both of these places.

Chayan Bhai the camps at Jispa will cost you a bit, around Rs. 1000 per person but can lower down a bit depending on your negotiation. There are several chadar tents at Sarchu which is a cheap option to stay. You can get a bed here for as low as Rs. 200 to Rs. 300.

    Hi Vargis,
I thank you for your reply. Okay so that means JISPA can be a bit costly.
And yeah as we will be reaching Manali by 10 am on 9th of june and we plan to leave the same day by 12 pm as we have been to manali many times and are not planning to stay at manali that day (am short of leaves at office).
So first of all are 2 hours enough to do the bike formalities and get a permit for Rhotang?? Is there anything else needed ?
and secondly if we leave by 12 pm from Manali will we be able to make it to Jispa by evening or staying at keylong would be a good option?? (in terms of cheap accommodation and convenience).

    Hi Chayan,

    1. Yes, Jispa can be a little costly.
    2. No, 2 hours are not enough to get the permit on the spot. It takes an entire day. You will have to submit the documents before 12 PM and the permit will be issued after 1 PM. You can try applying for it online though. See the post below.

    3. No, if you started by 12, you will probably reach Jispa after dark. Last year we started around 11 from Manali and it was still dark by the time we made it to Jispa.

Hi Vargis, thanks for the reply.
So if I apply it online, then it wont take more than 2 hours right?
And yeah do I need to book the hotels in keylong, leh and diskit in advance or could we find cheap hotels at the same time when we reach there?
