hi i am planning a holiday in ladakh

please suggest whether i should go from leh to nubra, nubra to pangong , and from pangong back to leh

OR leh to pangong , pangong to nubra, and from nubra back to leh

And also please suggest whether i should take 2 nights in nubra valley and 1 night in pangong or vice a versa

Or 1 night each is enough for both these places as i will be travelling from one to another directly without going back to leh

    Hi,

Do Leh - Nubra - Pangong - Leh. It is better this way.
Spend 2 nights at Nubra and 1 at Pangong. In Nubra, Do Leh to Diskit, Diskit to Turtuk and back to Panamik, and then Panamik to Pangong via Shyok road

    How are you traveling though?

    Thanks for the reply

I plan to travel in a private taxi preferably Innova , I will be accompanied
With my wife , so should I then stay at Diskit for two nights or
One night Diskit and one night some other place in Nubra Valley and then
    Move to Pangong from Nubra

Stay in Diskit for one night, then explore the valley a bit more. I would suggest spending the second night at Panamik.

    Dear Vargis,
We are a bunch of photography enthusiasts looking at capturing the villages of Spiti enveloped in snow. We intend to travel to Spiti during the winters and are not entirely sure which month would be the ideal one to make plans for. Like how how much does the landscape change from October to March. Also, is there a chance of witnessing snowfall during October/November. And, about access to villages like Demul, Dhankar and Hikkim during winters. We are looking at the possibility of a month long trip. Would be wonderful if you could help us out with these queries.
    Thanks in advance.
    Warm regards.

If you want to enjoy snow covered Spiti then either January or February would be best for the experience. I would personally prefer Feb. Access to local villages remains open but depends on the amount of snow. Chances of snow in October and November is rare in lower areas, it mostly snows at the passes in these months.

Thank you for the prompt response. What are the challenges one can expect in Febrauary. In terms of stay, commute to the villages, status of the fuelling station in kaza, electricity and also the likelihood of experiencing shorter days with the sun setting early.

Yes, all of this will be a challenge. Limited stay options, way too cold, no electricity, no running water, squatting over a dry pit every morning, limited availability of fuel etc but then that is the fun.
