Hi Raju Bus service between Shimla - Kaza and Manali - Kaza are both operational and yes, 15 days is more than enough to cover all of Spiti. Since you have so many days in hand, my recommendation would be that you cover both routes.

As of today, i.e 14-Aug-18 the roads from manali to KAZA or vice versa are closed as per the below website.

That information is not correct Abhinnandan. Roads are open but rains are wreaking havoc in the hills right now. Landslides and resulting deaths in several areas around Shimla. Traveling right now is not advised at least for next couple of weeks.

Bhai we are going to spiti on 31st august friday eve delhi to shimla road, rampur, tapri.... pleae let us know the road status n all, we are going via road with our Ecosport Ford. Please fo suggest what time will be good to drive we all 4 ae expert in drving. Thanks

There is a lot on the news feeds about the Chandigarh Shimla highway stretch not being good. A lot of landslides on account of rain and road widening. Do you happen to have any information on that ? Headed for Kaza via Rampur - Nako next week. Will come back via Manali. If you like I can share updates on the way

Hi Partha Bhai - Yes there is some road widnign work going on which due to rains is causing slow traffic. It is open though and you should be able to travel

I am planning a trip to Spiti with few other friends in our own cars from 5th to 12th Oct. Entering from Shimla-Kinnaur side and exitting via Manali.
We know we are going right at the end of the window, but this was the only possible for all us to go together. And we are really excited about this trip. For me personally, I am going for the 3rd time to Spiti over the last 10 years and I wish I had your blog/site to refer to during my first 2 visits. It is really really informative - detailed and thorough. Truly appreciable!
Now I read some articles over the last few days about some snow over higher reaches of Lahaul and Spiti which has resulted in HRTC suspending its bus service from Manali to Leh. Could you please update on the actual situation on the ground. Has the Kaza-Losar-Kunzumla-Chhatru-Gramphoo-Manali stretch been closed for all vehicles? And if not yet, any indications of when that might happen this year?
Will be very thankful for some info from you.
